According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Novel Chewable Iron-Folic Acid-Vitamin C-Probiotic Complex for Anemia in Reproductive-Age Women Iron deficiency anemia is a major public health problem, especially among women of reproductive age, where conventional iron-folic acid tablets have shown limited success due to poor absorption, gastrointestinal side effects, and low adherence. To overcome these challenges, the present study focuses on the development and evaluation of a novel chewable foiTuulation combining iron, folic acid, vitamin C, and probiotics. Each chewable tablet contains standardized doses of iron (60 mg), folic acid (400 mcg), vitamin C (100 mg), and a probiotic blend of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains (10^ CPU), formulated with acceptable excipients for palatability and stability. In vitro Caco-2 cell line studies assessed iron uptake, preclinical evaluation in Wistar rats confirmed safety and tolerability, and a Phase II randomized controlled clinical trial in women with mild to moderate anemia I i demonstrated improvements in hemoglobin, ferritin levels, gastrointestinal tolerance, and adherence. This chewable complex offers a safe, effective, and patient-friendly alternative to conventional iron supplements."
