MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611052565 A) filed by Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab, on April 24, for 'nootkatone-based pharmaceutical composition for the management of inflammation-induced insulin resistance and metabolic disorders.'
Inventor(s) include Saptaparni Pal; Dr. Thakur Gurjeet Singh; Dr Jaskiran Kaur; and Dr Ankit Awasthi.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to Nootkatone identified as a Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) antagonist through computational and biological studies. A Nootkatone-loaded formulation is developed to enhance solubility, bioavailability, and targeted delivery, forming nanosized carriers with controlled and pH-responsive release. The formulation suppresses inflammatory signalling pathways, reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines, and restores insulin signalling through IRS-1/Akt/GLUT4 pathways, thereby improving glucose uptake and insulin sensitivity."
