MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521095950 A) filed by Azafran Innovacion Ltd., Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Oct. 6, 2025, for 'non-toxic crayons comprising organic plant-based waxes and butters and method for their manufacture.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a formulation and manufacturing method for producing non-toxic, edible-grade, and safe organic crayons. The formulation comprises an oil phase of 0.5 - 50% organic palm wax, 0.5 - 50% organic soya wax, 0.5 - 50% organic soya butter, 0.5 - 50% organic coconut butter, and 0.5 - 60% stearic acid; and a color phase of 0.5 - 10% food-grade pigments, and 0.5 - 20% mild surfactant. In addition, the crayon is characterized by an ergonomic shape, such as square, rectangular, pencil-like, or oval, to enhance usability and safety for children. The manufacturing method ensures enhanced thermal stability and uniform pigment dispersion by utilizing a high-speed stirrer set at 2000 RPM and a controlled cooling and casting stage at 52 C to 55 C, thereby providing a product with consistent texture, hardness, and vibrant coloration."
