MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517046962 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on May 15, for 'non-oriented electromagnetic steel sheet and production method therefor.'

Inventor(s) include Zaizen Yoshiaki; Okubo Tomoyuki; Saito Hayato; Tanaka Takaaki; and Suehiro Ryuichi.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a non-oriented electromagnetic steel sheet in which a decrease in magnetic flux density and a decrease in productivity are avoided, and the core loss in a high magnetic flux density region is low. In addition, proposed is an advantageous production method for the non-oriented electromagnetic steel sheet. This non-oriented electromagnetic steel sheet has a component composition containing C, Si, Mn, P, S, Al, N, Co, Ti, Nb, and O, and has an oxide layer containing Si, Al, and Co in at least one surface of the steel sheet. The nitrogen content in a steel sheet surface layer is at most 0.01 mass%. The nitrogen content Nc at the center portion in the thickness direction of the steel sheet and the nitrogen content (NasAlN) in the steel sheet surface layer satisfy formula (1). The core loss of the steel sheet is at most 3.2 W/kg when the steel sheet is excited at 50Hz and 1.7 T. This production method for a non-oriented electromagnetic steel sheet comprises: a step for hot-rolling a steel slab containing the abovementioned component composition, cold-rolling the steel slab after or without annealing, subjecting the steel slab to an electrolytic degreasing treatment, and subjecting the steel slab to finishing-annealing. For the electrolytic degreasing treatment, the electricity quantity density, concentration, liquid temperature, and treatment duration of an alkali liquid are specified. The finishing-annealing is performed at a low dew point. (1): (NasAlN)/Nc = 3.0."

The patent application was internationally filed on Aug. 31, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/031961.
