MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641044342 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 7, for 'non invasive external urethral support ring for the management of female stress urinary incontinence.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a non-invasive urinary incontinence management device designed to provide external urethral support for individuals experiencing stress urinary incontinence. The device comprises a soft, anatomically contoured external urethral support ring fabricated from medical-grade elastomeric materials. The support ring is positioned externally in the perineal region and is configured to dynamically respond to increases in intra- 1 abdominal pressure caused by actions such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, or lifting. Upon I pressure application, the device temporarily deforms to provide targeted support to the urethra, I thereby preventing involuntary urine leakage. The device does not require insertion into the [ vagina! canal, ensuring enhanced comfort, hygiene, and ease of use. The support ring may be integrated into undergarments or secured using an adhesive or wearable support structure. By offering a non-invasive, reusable, and discreet solution, the invention improves patient compliance, comfort, and quality of life while reducing reliance on invasive procedures or absorbent products."
