MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631043316 A) filed by Narula Institute Of Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal, on April 4, for 'next gen-sos: a multi-modal, resilient emergency response system with autonomous accident detection.'

Inventor(s) include Subhasree Bhattacharjee; Suseta Datta; Debrupa Pal; Moloy Dhar; Sneha Ghosh; and Ishani Mitra.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An advanced personal safety and emergency response system, NEXT GEN-SOS, provides a resilient distress platform through the integration of a multi-modal software application and proprietary hardware components. The system features an Autonomous Accident Detection Module (ADM) that utilizes a machine learning model to process accelerometer and GPS data, enabling the automatic triggering of emergency alerts upon detection of high-impact events. Key to its novelty is a redundant alert cascade that employs a dedicated hardware-based GSM module to transmit encrypted, location-specific distress messages to emergency services, circumventing the limitations of internet dependency and user incapacitation. The system further supports activation via voice commands, wearable devices, RFID/NFC tags, and tactile switches, all secured by AES encryption."
