MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102416 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'nanocomposite formulation utilizing banana and pineapple peels for horticultural application.'

Inventor(s) include Sudhanshu Singh; Akash Kumar; Niharika Thakur; Manish Bakshi; and Shailesh Kumar Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention presents a green nanocomposite formulation derived from banana and pineapple peels for horticultural use, serving as an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic rooting agents. The process involves homogenization, alkaline hydrolysis, filtration, emulsification, and ultrasonication to produce stable nanoparticles enriched with natural nutrients. The inclusion of IBA and bio-based emulsifiers enhances rooting and shoot initiation in mulberry cuttings. Characterization revealed uniform particle size distribution, stable zeta potential, and good dispersion. Application trials showed improved root development, leaf emergence, and chlorophyll content. This sustainable approach not only valorizes agro-waste but also contributes to circular bioeconomy, reducing chemical input and promoting environmentally responsible horticultural practices."
