MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023784 A) filed by Chairman, Defence Research & Development Organization, New Delhi, on March 26, 2024, for 'nano silver embedded nanofiber based face mask.'

Inventor(s) include Pushpendra Kumar Sharma; Suresh K Srivas; Virendra V Singh; Lokesh K Pandey; Manisha Sathe; Vikas B Thakare; Kumaran Ganesan; Sanjay Upadhyay; Deepali Plawat; and Chetan Mahajan.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a face mask, comprising an outer layer configured to contact an external environment comprising a fiber material, a middle layer disposed on the inner side of the outer layer comprising at least one layer of nano silver loaded electrospun microfiber and nanofiber coating of nylon (PA6) on non-woven meltblown substrate; and an inner layer comprising spun bound nonwoven fabric disposed on the inner side of the middle layer configured to contact a wearer's nose and mouth. The present disclosure also relates to the method of preparing the same."
