MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023169 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 24, 2024, for 'nail grooming device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A nail grooming device, comprises of a hollow cuboidal shaped body 1 positioned on a surface for allowing a user to insert palm/feet inside the body 1, plurality of suction cups 2 for gripping the surface, an artificial intelligence based image capturing module 3 for detecting the size of nail on palm/feet, multiple telescopic links 4 to position a blade 5 near the nail cutting of the user's nail, an ultrasonic sensor to detect gap between fingers, a pair of robotic grippers 6 to increase gap in between the fingers for efficiently cutting the nails, a motorized nail shaper 7 for shaping the user's nails and an electronically controlled nozzle 9 installed on a chamber 10 for dispensing disinfecting solution on the user's nail for preventing spread of germs."
