MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311085380 A) filed by Indian Council Of Agriculture Research, New Delhi, on Dec. 14, 2023, for 'multipurpose diagnostics for the sheath blight rhizoctonia solani of rice.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Bishnu Maya Bashyal; Mr. Prashanth T; Ms. Asmita Singh; Dr. Gopala Krishnan; and Dr. Rashmi Aggarwal.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to the identification of a multipurpose molecular diagnostic method for the detection of the sheath blight Rhizoctonia solani of rice using a unique set of primers for the molecular detection of Rhizoctonia solani, comprising: unique sequences of BrD (bromodomain binding) gene of Rhizoctonia solani. The multipurpose molecular diagnostic method is highly sensitive, specific, and rapid and could provide point-of-need assay that is economical and easy to implement. The present invention because of its easy accessibility and cheaper cost can be used for testing large number of samples."
