MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517092269 A) filed by Nuovo Pignone Tecnologie - S. R. L., Florence, Italy, on Sept. 25, for 'multilayer coating for high stressed metal pieces.'

Inventor(s) include Bellacci, Michelangelo; Pranzetti, Alice; Cinotti, Serena; Donato, Angelo; and Guglielmo, Alberto.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The multilayer coating (100) for a metal piece (10), in particular a turbomachinery component, more in particular a turbomachinery impeller, comprising a first layer (20) which is applied on at least a portion of the metal piece (10) and which has a hydrogen diffusion coefficient of less than 10-7 m2/s even when subjected to stress (the hydrogen diffusion coefficient being measured through a hydrogen permeation test), and a second layer (30) which is applied on top of the first layer (20) and which is exposed to a process fluid comprising hydrogen. The second layer (30) comprises an oxide chosen between: aluminum oxide (Al2O3), titanium dioxide (TiO2) and silicon dioxide (SiO2). The first and the second layer (20) and (30) may be applied according to various depositing process techniques at temperature below 500 C."

The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 22, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/025124.
