MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621010574 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Jan. 31, for 'multifuel engine apparatus for dual combustion.'
Inventor(s) include Chaitanya Phadtare; Shantanu Marathe; Atharva Salunke; Nikhil Zalte; and Prof. Shahid Tamboli.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a multifuel engine apparatus (100) designed for reliable operation on fuels with differing combustion properties. The apparatus (100) includes a combustion chamber (102) adapted to receive multiple fuel types, an engine head (104) modified to achieve an optimal compression ratio for dual-fuel ignition, and a piston assembly (106) cooperating with the engine head to enable smooth combustion. The multifuel engine apparatus (100) selectively operates on liquid fuels such as petrol and diesel, as well as gaseous fuels including LPG, CNG, and biogas. By structurally optimizing the combustion chamber (102), engine head (104), and piston assembly (106), the apparatus (100) delivers dependable performance without ignition lag and supports varied output through adjustments in fuel type and engine speed. This invention enhances operational flexibility, reduces dependency on single-fuel systems, and provides cost-effective adaptability for agricultural, industrial, and localized energy applications."
