MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521132159 A) filed by Nge Drillsol Pvt. Ltd., Mehsana, Gujarat, on Dec. 26, 2025, for 'multi-start thread-based push/pull engagement mechanism for multi-plate clutch systems.'
Inventor(s) include Suthar Kuldeepkumar Rajeshkumar.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Multi-start thread-based push/pull engagement mechanism for multi-plate clutch systems This patent application relates to a high-capacity, multi-plate clutch mechanism for drawworks systems used in drilling rigs. It features a multi-start threaded actuator shaft with varying pitch values which provides linear axial motion through a rotary input. The clutch enables precise engagement and complete disengagement clearance, greater than 2 mm, allowing consistent free spooling of the winch drum irrespective of the wear condition of the clutch plate, along with offering self-locking capability under load. 3 to 7 friction plates are supported in a standard 18 inch or 20 inch housing which can handle loads upto 150 tons. The modular unit can be installed directly into existing clutch housing, simplifying repair and maintenance procedures. This multi-plate clutch mechanism enhances control, reduces wear and improves operational efficiency in heavy-duty drawworks applications."
