MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541124297 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'multi layered synthetic turf, composition and process of preparation thereof from crumbed rubber-bitumen composite.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a multi layered synthetic turf prepared from Crumbed Rubber-Bitumen Composite. Further, the present invention focuses on developing a low-cost ground surface simulating synthetic ground, employing sustainable materials. The force reduction values of Multi layered synthetic turf, which are indicative of shock absorption and directly relate to player safety and injury risk, were found to be at par with existing synthetic tracks. It is an excellent alternative for existing natural grounds and highly desirable for multipurpose indoor and outdoor athletic fields."
