MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631059256 A) filed by Narula Institute Of Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal, on May 9, for 'multi layer natural fiber composite enclosure for supercapacitor regenerative braking systems in toto (e rickshaws).'

Inventor(s) include Adrija Mukhopadhyay; Kuntal Das; Dr. Sumit Chabri; Arghya Gupta; and Akhtarujjaman Sarkar.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A structural enclosure for a super-capacitor bank in light electric vehicles is formed from a multilayer natural fiber composite material. The enclosure comprises an inner thermally conductive layer (flax/boron nitride) for heat dissipation, a middle electrically insulating layer (jute/kenaf) for galvanic isolation, and an outer impact-resistant layer (hemp/basalt) for structural protection. These layers are cocured into a monolithic structure that includes integrated mounting features, ventilation ports, and cable entries. The invention provides a lightweight, sustainable alternative to metallic enclosures, offering superior vibration damping and thermal management while reducing overall vehicle mass and environmental impact."
