MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113248 A) filed by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Nov. 18, 2025, for 'multi direction shield attachment for ultrasonic dental scalers.'
Inventor(s) include Mradul Gupta; and Dr. Vijay Wadhawan.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention relates to an attachment device for an ultrasonic dental scaler. The device comprises an attachment body configured for coupling to a scaler handpiece, a shield, and a multi-directional joint mechanism connecting the shield to the body. The joint mechanism permits adjustment to the shield's position and orientation with respect to the scaler tip. The shield serves to retract a patient's soft tissue, prevents contact between the heated tip and the soft tissue, and deflects the aerosols generated during the scaling process. The device's integrated, multi-functional design enhances the user's safety, comfort, and efficiency during dental scaling procedures."
