MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611048180 A) filed by Jmvd Industries Private Limited; and Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on April 15, for 'MSS+ :- dense graded thin asphalt surfacing composition and method based on amphoteric bitumen emulsion for ambient temperature application.'

Inventor(s) include Satish Pandey; and Ravi Shankar Jaiswal.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A dense graded ambient temperature bituminous surfacing composition and a process for preparing and applying the same are disclosed. The composition comprises a plurality of aggregates arranged in a dense graded structure, at least one amphoteric bitumen emulsion serving as a binder phase, and at least one mineral admixture. The amphoteric bitumen emulsion is capable of interacting with aggregates having varying mineralogical compositions and surface charge characteristics to provide improved coating and adhesion. The mineral admixture assists in regulating the breaking behaviour of the emulsion and facilitates development of cohesion within the mixture. The composition is prepared and applied at or near ambient temperature without requiring heating of materials. The process includes selection and dry mixing of aggregates, addition of mineral admixture, introduction of the amphoteric bitumen emulsion, formation of the surfacing mixture, surface preparation, placement, compaction, and curing. The resulting surfacing layer provides satisfactory structural performance for pavement applications."
