MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511133362 A) filed by Manipal University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'motorized smart-textile nursing flap with concealed motor and silicone comfort layer for discreet public breastfeeding.'
Inventor(s) include Mahboob Anwer.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a motor-assisted smart-textile nursing garment designed to provide discreet, rapid, and hands-free breastfeeding access in public environments. The smart-textile nursing flap comprises a flexible, ergonomically shaped privacy flap actuated by a compact micro-motor mechanism embedded within the garment structure. To ensure user comfort and safety, the motor and mechanical components are fully encapsulated beneath a soft silicone or comparable elastomeric layer, preventing localized pressure, skin irritation, or mechanical exposure. Activation is achieved through a low-profile concealed button or optional touch-sensor interface that deploys the flap smoothly and quietly, enabling immediate coverage without manual adjustment. The detachable electronic module allows washing and maintenance without compromising garment integrity. By combining smart-textile engineering, soft-material cushioning, and controlled actuation, the invention delivers an advanced, user-centric solution that enhances privacy, comfort, and confidence for nursing individuals in public settings."
