MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531129193 A) filed by International Institute of Nursing and Research, Kalyani, West Bengal, on Dec. 19, 2025, for 'mother-child sleep alert pillow.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Indrakshi Basu; Medhawi Verma; Dr. Sourajit Ghosh; Dr. K. Thavamani; Ms. Rehena Khatun; Ms. Taniya Nashnin Biswas; and Dr. Prashanta Kumar Bardhan.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention introduces a smart safety pillow for mothers co-sleeping with their infants. It detects body position and proximity using built-in soft sensors and, when it senses that the mother may be too close or in a risky position, gently vibrates to alert her. This ensures the safety of the child without disturbing sleep. The pillow is soft, washable, and fully integrated - promoting safer, more confident motherhood."
