MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541036394 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 15, 2025, for 'morphing of an aerial vehicle wing using adaptive tip cavity to optimize its performance.'
Inventor(s) include Masanam, Senthil Murugan; and Singha, Debashis.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an aerial vehicle wing that incorporates a morphing technology and optimizes the shape of the wings of UAV to enhance aerodynamic performance. The aerial vehicle wing comprises a wing root configured to be fixed to a fuselage of an aerial vehicle, a wingtip outwardly extending from the wing root to a distal end of the aerial vehicle wing, an inner section positioned proximate to the wing root, wherein the inner section includes a static wing structure, and an outer section positioned adjacent to the inner section configured to include a hydraulic scissor linkage, wherein one end of the hydraulic scissor linkage is connected to the inner section and another end of the hydraulic scissor linkage is connected to a moveable tip cap."
