MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073956 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'mop holding device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Prerna Tikku; Dr. Rohit Sharma; Jatin Baweja; and Anmol.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A mop holding device, comprising of a rectangular base 1 having a plurality of suction cups 2 at the rear surface for gripping onto a vertical surface, a pair of elongated members 3, having a C-shaped cross- section 4, attached perpendicularly on the base 1 with concave surfaces of the members 3 facing each other, a prism-shaped flap 5 attached by a hinge joint 6, within each the concave surfaces of the members 3, a rectangular rubberized flexible sheet 7 is attached across the two flap 5, for gripping onto a rod of the mop, and a proximity sensor provided on the base 1 for detecting a presence of the rod of the mop near the flap 5 to actuate the hinge joint 6 to rotate the flap 5 inwards to acquire a grip onto the rod for a holding of the mop."
