MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641007899 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 27, for 'monolithic paddle shifter for formula student steering wheels.'

Inventor(s) include Nayan Pareek; and Krishanu Ganguly.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A paddle shifting device 100 for formula student steering wheels includes a pair of shifter switch 102 ergonomically designed and positioned with a mounting base 104 in a bridge-shaped flexural mechanism. The ergonomically mounting of device 100 provides natural reach of a user to the pair of shifter switch 102 without any obstruction and reliable gear shifting in high-vibration environment. The device 100 is designed in a single, monolithic component manufactured via 3-D printing, eliminating the need for discrete parts such as springs, bolts, magnets, pivots, or return mechanisms."
