MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611008709 A) filed by Amit Kumar Chauhan; and Swati Chauhan, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Jan. 28, for 'monocular imaging system with internal optical reference geometry for absolute metric scale recovery and depth estimation.'

Inventor(s) include Amit Kumar Chauhan; and Swati Chauhan.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Monocular Imaging System with Internal Optical Reference Geometry for Absolute Metric Scale Recovery and Depth Estimation: A monocular optical sensing and measurement system includes an imaging device and an internal reference geometry disposed within the optical path and mechanically coupled to the device such that its spatial relationship to the image sensor is either physically invariant or varies according to a deterministic, calibrated relationship. During operation, the image sensor captures frames containing both an external scene and a simultaneous projection of the reference geometry. By analyzing the projected geometry, the system deterministically recovers an absolute metric scale for each frame without requiring external calibration targets. The recovered scale enables metrically grounded spatial estimation, including distance measurement, depth estimation, three-dimensional reconstruction, and scale-consistent visual SLAM."
