MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411064107 A) filed by Bootes Impex Tech Private Limited, Gurugram, Haryana, on Aug. 25, 2024, for 'modular toilet system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention, is a modular toilet system designed to provide a sustainable, waterless, and eco-friendly sanitation solution. The system employs a two-tier chamber arrangement utilizing a specially formulated bacterial culture to treat human waste, transforming it into an odorless, pathogen-free, nutrient-rich liquid organic fertilizer suitable for agricultural applications. The modular toilet system comprising: a toilet bowl seat configured to receive human waste, including urine and faeces; a two-tier chamber arrangement comprising an upper first chamber and a lower second chamber, wherein the upper first chamber is disposed beneath the toilet bowl seat and configured to collect and treat human waste using a specially formulated bacterial culture, and the lower second chamber is configured to collect and store liquid organic fertilizer; a microorganism pre-treatment method comprising an aerobic treatment system for initiating decomposition of the human waste; and a post-treatment method comprising a high-efficiency biological component for completing nitrification and producing an odorless, pathogen-free, nutrient-rich liquid fertilizer."
