MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006951 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 1, 2024, for 'modular smartphone holding device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Harpal Singh; Namita Sharma; Dr. Charu Mehan; Jiya Jindal; and Kashish Goyal.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular smartphone holding device, comprises a body 1 and installed with an imaging unit 2 determines dimensions of user's forearm, multiple rollers 3 wrap/unwrap strap 4 for loosening/tightening strap 4, wherein each roller 3 is coiled with a looped strap 4 which are accessed by user for engaging the body 1 on user's forearm, a pair of sliding units 6 are integrated on lateral sides within body 1 to translate a pair of clamping units 7 for acquiring a grip over smartphone, a transparent touch sensitive membrane arranged on top portion of body 1 that is accessed by user for using smartphone while performing any activity involving user's hands, an IR (infra-red) sensor detects presence of any droplet of water or dirt stained on membrane and a pair of motorized sliders 8 mounted on lateral sides of body 1 to translate a rolling while rotating on its own axis."
