MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023583 A) filed by Sanskriti University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on March 25, 2024, for 'modular manhole covering device.'
Inventor(s) include Rajiv Sharma; and Dr. Satendra Singh.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular manhole covering device, comprising a circular frame 1 developed to be installed on periphery of a manhole, artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 is for capturing multiple images in vicinity of the frame 1 to determine dimensions of the manhole, drawer arrangement 3 to extend/retract for maintaining dimensions of the frame 1 as per the determined dimensions in view of establishing a boundary of a cover in periphery of the manhole, motorized lid 4 to get closed for establishing a cover over the manhole to allow vehicle and people to pass over the manhole, motorized iris lids 5 to get opened and closed for allowing gas from inside of manhole to pass outside through iris lids 5, a button 6 accessed by a personnel for opening the manhole and telescopically operated curved links 7 get deployed to curved configured of lid in a partially opened state."
