MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026029 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'modular lounger.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular lounger comprises of a U-shaped body 1 developed to be placed on a ground surface, the body 1 is accessed by a user to get accommodated in the body 1, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 integrated in the body 1 and paired with a processor for capturing and processing multiple images of the body 1 an inbuilt microcontroller a pair of motorized slider plates 7 to get deployed for covering the body 1, the body 1, a proximity sensor for determining presence of an incoming individual near to the body 1, a speaker 4 attached on the body 1 to produce audio signals for notifying the individual about occupancy status of the body 1 and a microphone for enabling the user to provide input regarding requirement of more visibility, multiple LED's 6 assembled in the body 1 for illuminating the body 1."
