MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311084456 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 11, 2023, for 'modular locomotive maintenance assistive system.'

Inventor(s) include Puneet; and Saroj Kumar Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on June 20, under issue no. 25/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular locomotive maintenance assistive system, comprising an elongated frame 1 installed on railway track, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 installed on frame 1 to determine presence of a train on track along with location of train's wheel present in proximity to the frame 1, multiple omnidirectional discs 3 integrated on inner periphery of the frame 1 to move frame 1 in proximity to determined location, a plate 4 arranged on the frame 1 by motorized hinge joint 5 to orient plate 4 at appropriate angle with respect to train's wheel, a mechanical link 6 is integrated in between free end of plate 4 and frame 1 by motorized sliding rail to translate link 6 for blocking any movement of train's wheel to ensure complete halt of train till scheduled halt duration and an ultrasonic sensor for detecting any defect on railway tracks."
