MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026081 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'modular garbage-bin.'

Inventor(s) include Shruti; Preety Sharma; Dilpreet; and Kriti.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular garbage-bin, comprising a cylindrical frame 1 fabricated with a rubberized sheet is developed to be positioned on a ground surface in proximity to debris placed on a ground surface, an ultrasonic sensor is embedded on frame 1 determines amount of debris, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 installed on frame 1 to determine distance of debris, an extendable plate 3 arranged on ends of frame 1 positions plate 3 in proximity to debris, a pair of telescopically operated rods 4 arranged on plate 3 to extend/retract for positioning a C-shaped flap 5 integrated on each of rod on debris, a motorized hinge joint integrated with flap 5 provides scooping movement to plate 3, a motorized circular slider 7 integrated in between frame 1 and plate 3 translates plate 3, and a motorized ball and socket joint 8 arranged with plate 3 provides tilting movement to plate 3."
