MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521129559 A) filed by Rajarambapu Institute Of Technology, Sangli, Maharashtra, on Dec. 20, 2025, for 'modular foldable helmet with multi-part safety design and mechanical linkage system.'

Inventor(s) include Pratik Vinod Chougule; Prof. Juber Mohamad Shaphi Mulla; and Dr. Shailesh Suresh Shirguppikar.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Modular Foldable Helmet with Multi-Part Safety Design and Mechanical Linkage System This invention describes a modular foldable helmet system designed to provide cranial protection while addressing portability and storage constraints. The system comprises a multi-part protective assembly including a forward guard, a stationary rear foundation, a vertically movable rear enclosure, and an upper foldable cover, all mechanically interconnected by bilateral bolt-and-washer linkage mechanisms functioning as rotational pivots. This arrangement enables controlled folding and unfolding, allowing the helmet to transition seamlessly between a compact storage configuration and an extended protective configuration. The invention further affords dual usability by permitting deployment as either a full-size helmet for comprehensive protection or a half-size helmet for convenience in reduced-risk scenarios. The structural design ensures that safety performance is preserved throughout all operational states, with washers reducing friction and distributing stresses for durability. The invention is particularly suited for commuters, cyclists, and emergency responders requiring both impact resistance and ergonomic portability."
