MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020124 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 18, 2024, for 'modular commodities holding device for furniture.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular commodities holding device for furniture, comprising a frame with circular plate 1 installed on the handrest of the furniture, an imaging unit 2 captures images of vicinity of the frame to determine dimensions of the handrest, multiple of motorized clamps 3 acquires grip over the handrest, a microphone 4 accessed by user to provide voice command, an angle sensor monitors angle of the user with respect to the plate 1, telescopically operated link 5 extends or retracts along with multiple motorized hinges 6, a laser measurement sensor monitors dimensions of the commodities accommodated on the plate 1, multiple extendable pins 7 extends in the surrounding to secure commodities on the plate 1, a friction sensor monitors friction experienced by the clamps 3."
