MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073959 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'modular beverage cup holding device.'
Inventor(s) include Rohit Bhist; Parmod Sharma; Deepinder Kaur; and Samuel.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular beverage cup holding device, comprising an elongated frame 1 positioned on edge of a wooden table, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 determines position of table top and edge of table, two motorized clamping unit 3 to grip edge of table top firmly, a tactile sensor detecting hardness of hand rest, plurality of suction units 4 to securely accommodate, an ultrasonic sensor determines distance and position of user's hand portion, a circular ring-shaped member 5 used to accommodate a beverage cup over member 5, an expandable pulley arrangement to securely hold cup within member 5, a curved flap 6 is deployed by a robotic arm 7 to prevent accumulation of dust/dirt on accommodated beverage cup, an ultrasonic wave emitter is for repelling insects/ flies away from beverage cup, a Peltier unit for maintaining determined temperature within cup."
