MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517050837 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on May 27, for 'model for predicting oxygen amount per unit area after decarburization annealing, method for producing same, and method for manufacturing grain-oriented electrical steel sheet.'

Inventor(s) include Yamada Takuya; Watanabe Makoto; and Terashima Takashi.

The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This model predicts an oxygen amount per unit area after decarburization annealing, and is used for producing a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet by: hot-rolling a steel material for the grain-oriented electrical steel sheet; optionally annealing the hot-rolled steel sheet; cold-rolling the steel sheet once or two times or more with intermediate annealing performed therebetween; subjecting the steel sheet to decarburization annealing; applying an annealing separator mainly containing MgO to a surface of the steel sheet; and, thereafter, subjecting the steel sheet to finishing annealing. The model is created by using, as explanatory variables, at least three variables which are the components of the steel material, annealing conditions before the last cold rolling, and decarburization annealing conditions, and by using an objective variable corresponding to the explanatory variables as the oxygen amount per unit area after decarburization annealing. In addition, the decarburizing annealing conditions are set using the oxygen amount per unit area prediction model thus created such that the oxygen amount per unit area after decarburizing annealing becomes a target value to manufacture a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 21, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/041720.
