MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411014282 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 27, 2024, for 'mobility assistive device for handicapped.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Rupinder Sodhi; Dr. Deepika Sharma; and Dr. Shweta Lamba.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A mobility assistive device for handicapped, comprises of a pair of L-shaped telescopically operated frames 1 each configured with a semicircular member 2 for accommodating arms of a handicapped user, a pair of straps 4 for securing the member 2 with the user's arms, an ultrasonic sensor for detecting dimensions of the user's arm, an imaging unit 5 for detecting the user's height, and the frames 1 to extend for providing comfort to the user, a microphone 6 accessed by the user to provide voice commands for lifting the arms, and the frames 1 to extend for lifting the user's arms, multiple wheels 7 attached with the frames 1 to move the arms of the user and motorized pivot joints configured between the frames 1 for tilting the links 8 for deploying wheels 7 and enable the user to maneuver the frame 1."
