Intellectual Property India Publishes Patent Application for 'Mip-Based Image Encoding/Decoding Method, Method For Transmitting Bitstream, And Recording Medium Having Bitstream Stored Therein' Filed by Lg Electronics Inc.

MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517098779 A) filed by Lg Electronics Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Oct. 13, for 'mip-based image encoding/decoding method, method for transmitting bitstream, and recording medium having bitstream stored therein.'

Inventor(s) include Choi, Jangwon; Yoo, Sunmi; Hong, Myungoh; and Kim, Seung Hwan.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An image encoding/decoding method and apparatus are provided. The image decoding method according to the present disclosure comprises the steps of: determining an intra prediction mode of the current block; and generating a prediction block of the current block by performing intra prediction on the basis of the determined intra prediction mode, wherein the intra prediction may be restricted to be performed by using only a reference sample within a predetermined range from among available reference samples of the current block."
