MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311083346 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on Dec. 6, 2023, for 'microwave assisted system for liquid aromatic compound extraction.'

Inventor(s) include Subham Chowdhury; Subhrajit Manna; Bijendra Kumar; Hasina Khatun; Ranjan Kumar Barik; Anirban Bera; Ayan Kumar Bandyopadhyay; and Poonam Chand Panchariya.

The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A low-cost microwave assisted liquid aromatic compound extraction apparatus suitable for processing agricultural products up to 15 kg is disclosed. The apparatus consists of: 1. A low reflection multimode applicator containing microwave radiation, 2. Microwave launchers (three numbers, which can be altered as per requirement) with optimized dimensions, window (used to restrict the extract vapor), waveguide and matching sections optimally positioned at applicator wall, 3. A hot/normal air inlet mechanism (may be combined with wall heating mechanism) to stream out aromatic vapors, 4. A mechanism for sample holding and rotation 5. A condensation unit and 6. Power supply and control unit for all electrical & electronics components. The system has high yield, extraction efficiency, low extraction time and compatible with green technology. Overall, the reported microwave assisted system for liquid aromatic compound extraction may have vast applications in processing aromatic agricultural products for cosmetics, medicine, or other relevant industries."
