MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441076326 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on Oct. 8, 2024, for 'methods for beamspace compression and beamspace decompression and devices thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Venkatesh, Shruti; Kumar, Ashwini; Kadambar, Sripada; and Chavva, Ashok Kumar Reddy.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Methods (1400) and (1500) for beamspace compression and decompression, respectively, and corresponding encoder (812) and decoder (822) are disclosed. The method (1400) includes applying (1402), at an Open Radio Access Network (RAN) Distributed Unit (O-DU), a transformation to an input precoder matrix of predefined size to obtain a beamspace. The method (1400) includes selecting (1404) a predefined number of dominant coefficients per Subband Beam (SB) from the obtained beamspace and configuring a corresponding Active Beamspace Coefficients Mask (ABCM). The method (1400) includes identifying (1406) at least one Artificial Intelligence (AI) model corresponding to the input precoder matrix. The method (1400) includes compressing (1408) the beamspace precoder to a latent space using an Auto-encoder with at least one identified AI model and the configured ABCM. The method (1400) includes transferring (1410) the compressed beamspace precoder to an Open Radio Unit (O-RU)."
