MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202547081339 A) filed by Hyfe Inc, Wilmington, U.S.A., on Aug. 28, for 'methods for automatic cough detection and uses thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Circo, Julian-Alexandru; Drew, Joseph, Russell; Rieger, Paul, Simon; Small, Peter, Mcmichael; and Kafentzis, Georgios.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method of automatically detecting cough events from a continuous recording of ambient sound includes a step of detecting an onset of a possible cough event by analyzing acoustic energy distribution of an audio snippet in a frequency-time domain at a frequency above 100 Hz and classifying the event as a cough or a non-cough using convolutional neural networks. The method may be used for improved diagnosis in differentiating between various diseases having cough as a common symptom, monitoring the progression of a disease or efficacy of a treatment and for other purposes."
The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 30, 2024, under International application No.PCT/US2024/013437.
