The method (2300) includes predicting a time instant (T) the UE (502) enters a limited coverage area. Further, the method (2300) includes determining whether to switch to a new proxy-call session control function (P-CSCF) based at least on a call status of the UE 502 with a current P-CSCF. The method 2300 further includes initiating the IMS refresh registration process prior to the predicted time instant (T). The IMS refresh registration process includes triggering a refresh register process request based on determining that there is no need to switch to the new P-CSCF, or triggering a new IMS register process request to switch to the new P-CSCF based on determining that there is a need to switch to the new P-CSCF."
