MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441022754 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on March 23, 2024, for 'methods and systems for enhancing polling mechanism for extended reality.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Methods and systems for enhancing polling mechanism for extended reality Embodiments disclosed herein relate to methods (200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800) and systems (100) for enhancing polling mechanisms for Extended Reality (XR) in wireless communication networks. The methods (200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800) include handling a poll retransmit timer when indicated from an upper layer to discard a particular Radio Link Control (RLC) Service Data Unit (SDU). The methods (200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800) include handling a polling operation when at least one RLC SDU is discarded. The methods (200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800) include handling polling when a transmission buffer and/or a retransmission buffer become empty due to at least one RLC SDU discard. Further, the methods (200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800) include accounting discard while polling, and updating state variables for RLC."
