MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441039330 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on May 20, 2024, for 'methods and systems for determining state of charge of a battery.'

Inventor(s) include Bharathraj, Sagar; and Adiga, Shashishekara Parampalli.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Methods (200, 300, 400) and System (600) for determining a State of Charge (SoC) of a battery (100). The method (200) includes determining (210) an equilibrium ion-concentration value (Cs-s) of the battery (100) by correlating initial ion-concentration values over a plurality of surfaces of a battery electrode-particle (150), and a size of the particle (150); generating (220) a transient ion-concentration profile (120-t) over the plurality of surfaces based upon a configuration of the battery (100) and the initial ion-concentration values; and correlating (230) the determined equilibrium ion-concentration value (Cs-s) and the transient ion-concentration profile (120-t) to determine the SoC of the battery (100) at the instance of interest. Also, provided is a method (500) for determining a diffusivity of the battery (100) by correlating the initial ion-concentration values, time elapsed since beginning of a rest-period of the battery (100) and the size of the particle (150)."
