MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441075622 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Tirupati; and IIITDM Kancheepuram, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, on Oct. 7, 2024, for 'method of preparing phosphonium based ionic liquid as environment-friendly cutting fluid and application thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Mamilla Ravi Sankar; Kishor Kumar Gajrani; Arun Kumar Bambam; and Maddula Shanmuka Srinivas.
The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a method of preparing a phosphonium-based eco-friendly ionic cutting fluid for post-processing the simple to complex features manufactured through conventional and additive manufacturing processes. This ionic liquid based cutting fluid consists of base oil and additive such as Azadirachta indica, Cymbopogon citratus, Centella asiatica, Saccharum syrup and Ionic liquids. The developed cutting fluid contains all the constituents sourced from natural resources, hence is biodegradable, non-toxic and environment friendly. This cutting fluid is long-lasting and economical compared to the ones available commercially."
