MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517067438 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on July 15, for 'method of manufacturing metal sheet structure.'

Inventor(s) include Yamaguchi, Naoki.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This method of manufacturing a metal sheet structure is for manufacturing a structure in which a metal sheet is used, by improving fatigue strength in a site where fatigue failure is a concern. The method includes: a fatigue-failure risk site identification step S1 for identifying, as a fatigue-failure risk site, a sheared edge of the metal sheet where fatigue failure is a concern due to stress concentration when the structure is in use; and a compressive-residual-stress imparting step S3 in which the metal sheet or the structure is subjected to a load such that tensile plastic strain concentrates in the fatigue-failure risk site, and the load is released after tensile plastic strain has been caused in the fatigue-failure risk site, to impart compressive residual stress in the fatigue-failure risk site."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 12, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/037031.
