MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441074822 A) filed by Nordex Energy Se & Co. Kg, Hamburg, Germany, on Oct. 3, 2024, for 'method of manufacturing a half shell of a wind turbine rotor blade.'

Inventor(s) include Anbarasan Ramachandran; and Aravind Udupi.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a half shell (132) of a wind turbine rotor blade, using a mould (141) which comprises a layup surface (142) and a protrusion (143), wherein the protrusion (143) defines an edge of the mould (141), comprising the steps of: i. arranging a block (149) of sacrificial material on the protrusion (143), ii. arranging a plurality of laminate layers (145, 146, 147) on the layup surface (142), wherein at least one laminate layer (145, 146) of the plurality of laminate layers (145, 146, 147) covers the block (149) of sacrificial material on the protrusion (143), iii. removing the block (149) of sacrificial material and the part of the at least one laminate layer (145, 146) covering the block (149) of sacrificial material."
