MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202518065652 A) filed by B1 Institute Of Image Technology, Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on July 9, for 'method of decoding/encoding image and method of transmitting bitstream.'

Inventor(s) include Kim, Ki Baek.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is an image data encoding/decoding method and apparatus. A 5 method for decoding a 360-degree image comprises the steps of: receiving a bitstream obtained by encoding a 360-degree image; generating a prediction image by making reference to syntax information obtained from the received bitstream; combining the generated prediction image with a residual image obtained by dequantizing and inverse-transforming the bitstream, so as to 10 obtain a decoded image; and reconstructing the decoded image into a 360-degree image according to a projection format."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 10, 2017, under International application No.PCT/KR2017/011149.
