MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514004894 A) filed by Tmd Friction Services Gmbh, Leverkusen, Germany, on Jan. 21, for 'method for the manufacture of brake pads with modified backing plate.'
Inventor(s) include Grabiec, Tomasz, Dr; Stolz, Christian; Buzidis, Ioannis; and Dohle, Achim.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a brake pad which has a backing plate and a friction lining, comprising at least the following steps: a) Preparation of a backing plate for attaching a friction lining, with or without an intermediate layer between the backing plate and the friction lining, on the backing plate, b) Roughening of at least part of the surface area of the backing plate and c) Attachment of the friction lining onto the roughened surface of the backing plate, characterized in that surface of the backing plate is roughened using a pulsed high-pressure water jet."
