MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611002177 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Jan. 8, for 'method for synthesis and evaluation of peg-resveratrol conjugate.'
Inventor(s) include Sourbh Suren Garg; and Dr. Jeena Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a method for synthesizing, purifying, characterizing, and evaluating a PEG-Resveratrol conjugate (100) designed to improve solubility, stability, and nephroprotective efficacy for diabetic nephropathy. The method involves covalent conjugation of Resveratrol with methoxy polyethylene glycol (mPEG) using a hydrolysable linker via carbodiimide chemistry under anhydrous conditions, followed by purification through dialysis and freeze-drying. Characterization includes FTIR, NMR, DSC, and particle size analysis. In vitro studies assess antioxidant, cytoprotective, and cellular uptake effects, while in vivo pharmacokinetics and renal protection are evaluated in diabetic animal models. The method ensures controlled release, improved bioavailability, and reproducibility, enabling potential scale-up and industrial application in oxidative stress-related therapeutic areas."
