MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511007611 A) filed by Subhag Himalayan Resources (OPC) Private Limited, Srinagar, Uttarakhand, on Jan. 29, 2025, for 'method for production of particle boards from pine cones and needles.'

Inventor(s) include Preeti Singh.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a sustainable particle board and a method for preparing the same using mixed lignocellulosic biomass. The particle board comprises particles of pine needles and pine cones derived from Pinus roxburghii, particles of Lantana camara biomass, particles of Urtica dioica (nettle) biomass, waste wood powder, and a binder. The particle board has a density in the range of 600-900 kg/m and exhibits inherent resistance to fungal and insect attack. The binder is preferably melamine formaldehyde used in an amount of 30% to 60% by weight based on the weight of particles. The method comprises cleaning, drying, and blending the biomass to obtain particles, blending the particles with the binder to form a monolayered or multilayered mat, and hot pressing at 140 C to 180 C. The particle board is suitable for interior construction panels, furniture, modular housing, prefabricated building systems, and thermal and acoustic insulation, supporting sustainable and circular-economy construction."
