MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517097455 A) filed by Japan Polypropylene Corporation, Tokyo, on Oct. 9, for 'method for producing propylene polymer.'

Inventor(s) include Suzuki, Kenji; Miyata, Shoji; Sato, Taiki; Tsuchiya, Manabu; and Ida, Shoichi.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a method for producing a propylene polymer, in which a propylene polymer is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst by a continuous vapor phase polymerization method, in which reaction heat is removed by vaporization heat of a liquefied monomer-containing liquid, using a cylindrical horizontal polymerization reactor that is internally provided with a stirring mechanism rotating around a horizontal axis, wherein: the catalyst is supplied from the upper part of one end of the horizontal polymerization reactor; and the propylene polymer is extracted from the lower part of the other end of the horizontal polymerization reactor. This method for producing a propylene polymer comprises: a temperature measurement step in which the temperature distribution in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical horizontal polymerization reactor is measured such that the interval between adjacent measurement points is p/10 (rad) or less in terms of the central angle; a calculation step in which a specific temperature distribution parameter (A) is calculated from the temperature distribution obtained in the temperature measurement step; and a monitoring step in which the temperature distribution parameter (A) is monitored so that the temperature distribution parameter (A) does not exceed a predetermined value."

The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 12, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/009514.
