MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517078675 A) filed by Honshu Chemical Industry Co. Ltd., Tokyo, on Aug. 19, for 'method for producing polycarboxylic acid ester compound.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for producing a polycarboxylic acid ester compound in which purity is improved by reducing the content of specific impurities. The above problem is solved by providing a method for producing a polycarboxylic acid ester compound (1) represented by general formula (1), said method including an etherification reaction step in which a polyhydroxy aromatic compound represented by general formula (2) and a halocarboxylic acid ester compound represented by general formula (3) are used to perform an etherification reaction in the presence of a ketone solvent. The content of a monovalent aliphatic alcohol in the ketone solvent is 0.04 mass% or less, and the content of water is 2 mass% or less."
